The Giving Tree
Douglas High School's annual Giving Tree is now on display on the window near the main entrance.  Ornaments on the tree list the gender, age, and an item to be purchased.  Items should be returned to Mrs. Carpenter in Guidance or Mrs. Valliere, the school Nurse no later than Thursday, December 18th.  Items should be wrapped with the ornament attached to them.  In addition to helping out some local families this holiday season, we will also be making donations to Abby's House in Worcester, which is a shelter for battered women and their children.

Should your family wish to participate please speak with Mrs. Carpenter in the guidance office and she will arrange for you to get the information on the gift requests and how to make a submission to the Giving Tree.  We thank you in advance for your consideration.

The presentation was completed by Melissa Landry and it is an exceptional display and we thank her for he efforts.

Grade 8 Parent Information Night
On Thursday night, parents of students in grade 8 were able to attend an informational evening hosted by Mrs. Stack and Mr. Maines.  They were provided with information on the academic pathways available to students within each department as well as information on Advanced Placement course offerings and student performance on these exams.  There was information presented on the clubs and organizations that students can join at DHS as well as.  Lastly, they were provided with information on the Athletic and Extracurricular programs that are offered at DHS.

Three seniors, Rachel Morin, Sean Brunson and Lauren Willand addressed the parents on their experiences attending DHS.  They did a really nice job of sharing their insights and responding to questions from the parents.

Department Pamphlets were made available to the parents and additional copies will be sent to the Middle School should they like to have their child bring them home for their review.

Please visit the following link to view Jessica Picard's Senior Project from last year entitled "Douglas High School: The place to be" as it does a wonderful job of presenting student life at DHS from the perspective of a student.
