The track and field team has been making great strides this season with personal records being made in every event. The boys 4x400 relay team went to the State Coaches Indoor Relay meet on January 10th at the Reggie Lewis Center. The boys were only there to run a 4x400. The team consisted of zack Eldridge, Conner Grady, Davis Parella and Alec Goldenberg. The boys have been working hard this season and broke the school record. Their time was 3 minutes and 48 seconds. A big congratulations goes to the boys team in their accomplishments.
The Indoor Track teams are competing in the DVC Championships today at Northbridge HS with a 3:30 start.

The Journey: Hello, my name is John Ferguson and I a junior marketing student at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. I graduated from Douglas High School with the class of 2013. I come from a family that has been affected by cancer on numerous occasions. My grandmother, aunts, and uncles all have been diagnosed with various types of cancer. The most effecting diagnoses came when my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer during my sophomore year of high school. It was truly one of the most frightening experiences of my life. I grew up shielded away from the harsh world that cancer was, until her diagnoses. From that day on, I told myself that helping people with cancer would be a priority of mine when given the opportunity too. This is where my journey for the 4K begins. A few brothers of mine in the ΧΦ Chi Phi Fraternity, Zachary Boyer and Evan Foster, participated in the Ulman’s Cancer Fund for Young Adult’s, 4K for Cancer. This is a 4,000 Mile, 70 day Bicycle Trek across the United States from Baltimore, Maryland all the way to Portland, Oregon. On this journey, along with other college-aged riders, we travel to be a symbol of strength for cancer patients fighting the fight of their lives. We visit communities affected by cancer and help out in any way we possibly can. In order to participate every participant MUST fundraise at least $4,500 with all proceeds going to the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to have a positive affect on the cancer community that needs our help so badly. This is where I need your help. Fundraising is mainly completed through donations. If you wish to help out my cause, which is giving cancer patients the help they need, please donate to my personal fundraising page. Together we can make a difference; I truly cannot do this without you. No matter how small the donation is, it will help someone, somewhere fight the fight of his or her life. 2015- 2016 Mid-Term Exam Schedule
All exam days will be early release days, and students will be dismissed at 10:50 am. Transportation will be provided for students following their exams.
Tuesday, January 19th Exam A (7:20 am – 9:00 am) and Exam B: (9:10 am – 10:50 am)
Wednesday, January 20th Exam C (7:20 am – 9:00 am) and Exam D:(9:10 am – 10:50 am)
Thursday, January 21st Exam E: (7:20am – 9:00 am) and Exam F: (9:10 am – 10:50 am)
Friday, January 22nd Exam G: (7:20 am – 9:00 am) and Make-Up Exam:(9:00 am – 10:50 am)
In the event of a snow day / cancellation, the exam schedule will be moved back one day.
In the event of a two-hour delayed opening, the test- taking time period will simply move back two hours with both scheduled exams taking place on their scheduled date. The first exam will take place from 9:20 – 11:00 and the second exam will start at 11:10 and conclude at 12:50. Bus pick-up will also be at 12:50. Students will need to adjust their arrival and departure times based on this revised schedule should there be a two hour delayed opening.
If a student does not have a first period exam, he/she will be allowed to report to school in time for the start of the second exam period at 9:00 am. Students must check in at the main office if they are arriving to school for just the second period exam.
If a student has a first period exam, but not a second period exam, that student may be dismissed after the first period exam. The student must have a dismissal note from a parent / guardian with a contact phone number. The student must provide his / her own transportation. Dismissal notes must be turned in to Mrs. Peck in the main office at the start of the school day.
If a student does not have a first period exam, but reports to school at 7:05 AM, that student will report to the cafeteria during this non-testing period. These students should report prepared with academic work or reading material for this testing period.
Conversely if a student is a bus student and has a first period exam but not a second period exam, they would also report to the cafeteria during this non-testing period to wait for school dismissal. These students should report prepared with academic work or reading material for this testing period.
If a student misses an exam, the administration will determine whether the absence complies with the Student Handbook’s definition of an excused absence; if it does meet the criteria, the administration will let the student and teacher know that the absence is an excused absence. The student will then need to make arrangements with their classroom teacher to take the make-up exam during the make-up period.
If there are extenuating reasons for a student not being present for an exam(s) that do not meet the criteria for an excused absence, a parent will need to contact the administration to discuss the reason for a student not being present during the scheduled exam period. The student may not be allowed to take a make-up if the administration does not support the reason for the student missing their exam(s). This matter must be resolved with the administration in advance of the testing date. No early exams will be issued to a student and the student will need to make arrangements through the main office to take their make-up exam(s). The administration will contact the student(s) teachers to let them know of this determination so they will be aware of whether the student will be afforded an opportunity to take a make-up exam or that the student will receive a grade of zero for the missed exam. The make-up will need to be taken after school in the main office or in the guidance office.
If a student has to make-up more than one exam, he/she will need to make-up these exams through either the guidance or main office. Teachers will need to forward an exam to the Guidance or Main Office to accommodate this make-up.
Students who are tardy for an exam must report to the main office to validate whether the reason for being tardy is excused or not. Students must be on time for their exams; if the student is not on time for his/her exam, they may not be admitted to the testing room if the testing process has already begun. If the tardy is excused, the student will complete the exam in either the guidance or main office. If the tardy is not excused, he/she may not be allowed to take his/her exam.
Seniors will not have an exam during A period; however they are able to access the library to work on their senior projects.
Buses will be provided for all students at the 10:50 AM dismissal time. Buses will arrive at school at their usual time of 7:05 AM.
Also, please note that students who have work-study do not take a mid-term exam and do not need to report to school during that scheduled block time.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact the main office (508-476-4100) if you have any questions or concerns.
Respectfully,
Kevin Maines, Principal
Desi Vega,Assistant Principal
