Wishing you
HAPPY HOLIDAY'S!!!

On behalf of everyone here at DHS;
May you enjoy a safe and joyous Holiday Season spent with family and friends. To me the true meaning of the season is found in a lyric I am reminded of; "It's the giving that makes you what you are". Happy Holidays!!

With tears in her eyes, one of the volunteers from the People's Pantry thanked the Peer Leaders for all of their efforts in helping collect 1,959 food items during their 12 Days of Christmas contest.  The volunteer went on to explain that they would now be able to help feed people who would have had nothing for the holidays!!  So even though this is a contest for a pizza party between classes, the true meaning of Christmas and the reason Peer Leaders does the food drive was a true success once again!!!

This year's contest was won by Emily Mayo's C block class closely followed by Jeff Thayer's class and in third place was Mrs. Brennick's class.  A huge thank you to all the students and families who graciously donated!

1500 pairs of socks collected!

Dylan Adams and Jeffrey Denaro collected socks for Friendly House in Worcester, MA for their Senior Project.  They set a goal of 500 pair of socks from the High School students. The class donating the most socks would win a pizza party.  A friendly competition developed between classes, and students and staff donated an impressive total of 1500 pairs of socks!
Thanks to everyone for their support in helping make this project such a success.  A special thanks Mrs. Petrelli’s class!

Sports Update:
The Winter Season has begun.  The girls hoop team has started their season with 2 wins and no losses.  They have been scoring a high number of points in these two games.  They have defeated Tahanto Regional in a tough, competitive game 67-58 and they opened with a win over Worcester Tech by 40 plus points. They play tonight at Nipmuc Regional. Keep it going ladies.

The boys hoop team has started their season with a win and a loss.  The win was by 17 over Tahanto Regional.  the loss a four point setback to Abbey Kelley. They play at home tonight versus Nipmuc Regional, which looks to be a tough league battle.

Douglas Cheerleading

Indoor Track has also started their season with mixed results in a recent Tri-Meet with Hopedale and BMR.  They will travel to the Reggie lewis Center tomorrow for the state Winter Invitational meet.  Good luck everyone and Coach Eckert.

DHS Holds its Winter Concert

What a wonderful evening of entertainment at DHS on Thursday evening.  The annual winter Concert was a fantastic presentation of student talent.  The Chorus and Blue Light Special a cappella group performed a number of seasonal songs which were just excellent.  The show opened with the chorus being accompanied by junior Ryan Smith which was very moving.  The rifle, flag and baton groups also performed wonderful exhibitions for the crowd.  The use of glowing rifles and batons were also a big hit.  The concert band closed out this seasonal show with a number of crowd favorites.  Such a nice night of entertainment.
