Cards for the Troops
Senior Claudia Slawski conduct a senior project that asked students to create a holiday card for a soldier. With a support from Mrs. Fitzpatrick hundreds of holiday cards will be going out to the troops who cannot be home with their families for the holidays. We are very grateful for Claudia's focus and concern for the troops and to the students for their heartfelt notes to these hero's.

The Giving Tree
Douglas High School's annual Giving Tree is now on display on the window near the main entrance. Ornaments on the tree list the gender, age, and an item to be purchased. Items should be returned to Mrs. Carpenter in Guidance or Mrs. Valliere, the school Nurse no later than Thursday, December 18th. Items should be wrapped with the ornament attached to them. In addition to helping out some local families this holiday season, we will also be making donations to Abby's House in Worcester, which is a shelter for battered women and their children.
Should your family wish to participate please speak with Mrs. Carpenter in the guidance office and she will arrange for you to get the information on the gift requests and how to make a submission to the Giving Tree. We thank you in advance for your consideration.
The presentation was completed by Melissa Landry and it is an exceptional display and we thank her for he efforts.

2014 Holiday Concert
A wonderful night that celebrates the holiday season took place with the Winter Concert here at DHS on Thursday night. As is always the case, our students performed wonderfully. We were entertained by the full Choral group as well as the Blue Light Special along with terrific performances by our Rifle, Flag and Majorettes. During the intermission we were entertained by the Jazz band as they performed in the cafeteria as everyone enjoyed some treats. The Concert Band closed out the show with a number of beautiful seasonal selections. New this year was a quartet that performed in the main foyer as the spectators were arriving to the auditorium. They performed well and it was a really nice addition to the evening.
Congratulations go out to all the students who performed during the concert event. They were excellent and provided the audience with a variety of great acts. A tip of the hat goes out to the students from our Music Tech classes for all their efforts with set-up, break down, lights and sound. They also did a really nice job.
Finally thanks go out to all of our advisors including Mr. DeNoncour, Mr. Elliot, Mr. Rheaume, Ms. Metcalf for their work with our band and choral groups. Thank you's go out also to Mrs. Manning, Mrs. Gagnon, Mrs. Gray and to the band booster's for all they do for the program and our students.
A nice night was had by all. And yes that is Nick Daly as the Snowman!!
